One foggy morning in the Gulf of Mexico, the GULF QUEEN, a wooden vessel chartered for pleasure fishing, was at her final anchor before returning to shore when a crew boat bore down on her out of the fog and sheared off her stern, sinking the vessel, leaving one passenger missing and presumed dead and injuring others.
