LAVORATO, Justice.

In Springer v. Weeks & Leo Co., we recognized a common law tort action for retaliatory discharge based on the filing of a workers' compensation claim by an at-will employee. 429 N.W.2d 558, 559 (Iowa 1988). We said such conduct by an employer "offends against a clearly articulated public policy of this state." Id.
