LANIER, Judge.

Charles Owens was charged by a bill of information with attempted armed robbery. La.R.S. 14:64 and 14:27. He pled not guilty and, after a jury trial, was convicted of the responsive verdict of attempted first degree robbery. La.C.Cr.P. art. 814(23); La. R.S. 14:64.1. Owens was sentenced to be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of five years at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence....
