Laurence Hurd, a state prisoner, brought the present action pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254 in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico against Eloy Mondragon, the warden of the state penitentiary of New Mexico wherein Hurd is incarcerated, and the Attorney General of New Mexico, alleging, generally, that his state conviction and resultant confinement violated the United States Constitution.
