Marcel (plaintiff) filed suit against Allstate Insurance Company (Allstate) for damages resulting from an accident which occurred on May 3, 1984, in Bayou Blue, Terrebonne Parish, when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by an underinsured motorist.
