This appeal presents several issues concerning application of Miss. Code Ann. § 99-19-83 (Supp. 1987) to Eddie Lee King. King was indicted for rape as an habitual offender, then tried and convicted. Following his conviction, the trial court held a separate sentencing hearing where it found beyond a reasonable doubt that King was an habitual offender.
