Appellant Willie A. Horton was charged with three counts of assault with a pistol, D.C.Code § 22-502 (1981), three counts of assault with a shotgun, id., and one count of carrying a pistol without a license, D.C. Code § 22-3204 (1981). The trial court denied his pretrial motion to suppress a shotgun seized by police from the vicinity of the house in which he lived. A jury subsequently acquitted appellant of the shotgun charges...
