Petitioner, an Alabama prison inmate, contends that he is being held in custody in violation of the Constitution of the United States. Among other things, he claims that the state trial judge denied him due process of law by refusing to grant his request for a continuance and requiring him to stand trial only six days after the return of his indictment.
