The defendant, Robert Brandon, was charged by information in the circuit court of Cook County with the offenses of attempted residential burglary (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, pars. 8-4, 19-3) and possession of burglary tools (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 19-2).
