This matter has been submitted to the Court to determine the appropriate classification of D(-) mandelic acid imported from the Republic of Korea in 1985. The merchandise was imported for sale to Eli Lilly and Company (Lilly) to manufacture O-for-mylmandeloyl chloride, which is further treated to produce an antibiotic drug (Cefamandole Nafate).
