On the morning of September 24, 1983, the "massively" incinerated body of the deceased, Kathleen Reid, was discovered in a burned automobile in Fort Lee, New Jersey. A joint investigation was commenced by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Fort Lee Police Department.
