Plaintiff commenced this action on August 2, 1984 pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 2000e et seq. The complaint alleged that plaintiff Charlotte Croman was not appointed to be Associate Dean of Faculty at defendant Borough of Manhattan Community College because of her sex (female) and her race (white).
