JUSTICE HEIPLE delivered the opinion of the court:

The defendant, Raymond King, was charged with robbery in violation of section 18-1 of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 18-1). The charge alleged that on September 28, 1985, the defendant and a codefendant, who was tried separately, took United States currency from the person of Willie Wyatt by use of force. After a jury trial, the defendant was found guilty....
