This suit for personal injuries arose out of an accident which occurred on July 14, 1980, at the Louisiana Natural Gas Plant (LNG) in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. At the time of the accident, plaintiff, Wade Anthony Whittle, was working as a "grinder" for Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel Company in the construction of several large tanks for LNG.
