Defendant was charged with theft of cash in excess of $500, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:67, and filed a written plea of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. After waiving his right to trial by jury, defendant was found guilty as charged, and sentenced to serve two years with the Department of Corrections, suspended on the condition that defendant make restitution of $50,000.
