On September 17, 1986, defendant William Schaefer was charged by Yonkers Detective Robert Hunt in a felony complaint with assault in the second degree under section 120.05 (2) of the Penal Law. It was alleged at that time that the defendant had recklessly caused serious physical injury to Demetrick Spears, age 3, by operating a motor vehicle with .10 of 1% by weight of alcohol in his blood...
