The defendants, Elmo Dean Dressel, Sam McHugh Webb, and Robert Willis Strickland, Jr., were each convicted of one count of attempted felony theft, K.S.A. 21-3301 and K.S.A. 21-3701, and six counts of felony theft, K.S.A. 21-3701, following a nine-week jury trial. They appealed, and the Court of Appeals reversed the convictions. State v. Dressel, 11 Kan.App.2d 552
