The plaintiff, William C. Carbone, Jr., brought this action in three counts against the defendant, Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), claiming that he had been wrongfully discharged by the defendant. In the first count of the amended complaint, Carbone alleged that ARCO breached its oral contract and the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing by discharging the plaintiff.
