BORDEN, J.

The defendant appeals from the judgment of conviction, after a jury trial, of assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59 (a) (3), and assault in the second degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-60 (a) (2). He claims the trial court erred when it (1) refused to instruct the jury on voluntary intoxication, (2) refused to instruct the jury on self-defense, and (3) denied the defendant's motion for judgment of acquittal...
