The principal issue in this appeal is whether incriminating oral statements that the defendant made to the police during a custodial interrogation should have been suppressed by virtue of the right to counsel guaranteed by article first, § 8, of the Connecticut constitution. In our original decision in this case, we concluded that the statements were inadmissible under the fifth and fourteenth amendments to the United States constitution. State...
