Appellant was arrested in Macy's department store after she allegedly stole a wallet from the handbag of a customer waiting on line at the cosmetics counter. After a Sandoval hearing prior to trial, the court allowed the prosecutor to cross-examine the defendant about her extensive arrest record which includes many crimes similar to the offense charged and which were remote in time.
