On March 15, 1985, the appellant, Rick Dewayne Nebinger, was charged by joint trial information with murder in the first degree, see Iowa Code §§ 707.1, 707.2 (1985), and robbery in the first degree. See Iowa Code §§ 711.1, 711.2 (1985). These charges were made in connection with the killing of seventy-nine-year-old Floyd Brown, whose body was found in a bedroom of his Davenport home.
