Jeffery Noel Brown was convicted of the murder of Cheryl Ann Hughes, and sentenced to life imprisonment.1 The evidence shows that on the evening of May 24, 1984, the defendant and victim went to a lake in Lincoln County, Georgia, where they drank beer and smoked marijuana.
