Defendant Eddie Charles Risdal was tried and convicted of second-degree and third-degree sexual abuse of two minor boys. See Iowa Code §§ 709.1(3), 709.3(2), 709.4(5) (1985). He was sentenced to serve two consecutive indeterminate terms of incarceration—one term not to exceed twenty-five years, the other not to exceed ten years. See Iowa Code §§ 902.9(1), (3).
