The trial court held the plaintiff (Boyd) was not an employee of the defendant (City) at the time of her injury and therefore not entitled to workmen's compensation benefits.

The issue is whether an injury sustained while "trying-out" for a position with the City is compensable as a job-related accident. In other words, was Boyd an employee of the City at the time...
