The defendant, Robert Dean Merideth, was charged by indictment in the circuit court of Kane County with the offense of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 12-16(c)(1).) He was found guilty of that offense by a jury and sentenced to 3 years' probation subject to various conditions, including 6 months' imprisonment in the county jail and 12 months' intensive...
