Richard Paul Vescuso was convicted by a jury of unlawfully and feloniously escaping from the Nottoway Correctional Center in violation of Code § 53.1-203. On appeal, he contends that holding his trial within the confines of the Nottoway Correctional Center was a denial of his constitutional rights to a public trial, to a fair trial, and to equal protection of the laws.
