A Cook County grand jury indicted the defendants, David Thomas and Tyrone Patterson, and a third individual, Juan McCune, charging each with two counts of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, pars. 9-1(a)(1), 9-1(a)(2)) and one count of armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, par. 33A-2) for the murder of James Kevin Jackson. Prior to trial, McCune agreed to testify...
