At about 7:30 A.M. on February 15, 1978, plaintiff, a 21-year-old student, stepped off a bus and onto an ice-covered sidewalk at the northeast corner of 145th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan, and began walking south on Amsterdam Avenue. After taking about 10 steps, he slipped and fell, suffering a fracture of the left ankle. The building in front of which plaintiff fell housed a family...
