Defendant Daniel James Pearson was convicted, following a jury trial, of manufacturing a controlled substance (marihuana). MCL 333.7401(1); MSA 14.15(7401)(1). He was sentenced on October 21, 1985, to a three-year term of probation. MCL 333.7401(2)(c); MSA 14.15(7401)(2)(c).
