The United States appeals from the district court's order granting defendant's Fed.R.Crim.P. 29(c) motion to acquit after the jury had returned a guilty verdict. Defendant Parvez Sharif was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute or possess narcotics, 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1), and three counts of using a telephone to facilitate that conspiracy, 21 U.S.C. § 843(b).
