Defendant's conviction for the crime of murder in the second degree arose from the stabbing death of William Mulligan in October 1982. The evidence presented at defendant's trial reveals, inter alia, that defendant and Mulligan, both admitted alcoholics, were seen together in a green van by various witnesses during the morning and afternoon of October 26, 1982.
