JAMES HUNTER, III, Circuit Judge:

On January 6, 1986, appellant Russell Liotard ("Liotard") was indicted in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania on one count of conspiracy to transport stolen goods in interstate commerce in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371 (1982), and two counts of transporting stolen goods in interstate commerce in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2314 (1982).1
