John Edward Dunn was convicted of rape in 1974. Charges of burglary and kidnapping were also pending against him at the time of the rape conviction. In a plea bargain, Dunn agreed to plead guilty to the kidnapping charge. In exchange, the prosecutor agreed to drop the burglary charge.
