Joseph Istre was employed by Lambert Electric Co. P.D. Lambert (Mr. Lambert) owned Lambert Electric which provided labor for the operation of his ranch. On April 10, 1983 Istre was a passenger in a 1953 jeep driven by James Boudreaux. They were herding cattle on the ranch when the jeep passed over a culvert and Istre's right ankle was allegedly smashed against a fence post.
