Robert Guy brought this wrongful discharge action after being fired from his supervisory position at Travenol's North Carolina drug manufacturing plant, allegedly for refusing to falsify certain production and control records. Travenol denied those allegations in its answer and responded that, under North Carolina's doctrine of employment at will, an employer may fire an employee for virtually any reason.
