OPINION

GARFF, Judge:

This appeal is brought by plaintiff Virginia S.(S.), mother and guardian ad litem of T.W., from a directed verdict in favor of defendant Salt Lake Care Center (Care Center).

T.W. was seventeen years old when she was admitted to the Care Center in August of 1979. At that time she suffered from neuro-degenerative disease, severe mental retardation, progressive dementia, seizures, muscle weakness, and failing sight and hearing...
