On February 20, 1985, plaintiff, United Mine Workers of America, District 31, ("UMWA"), filed this action against Erwin Industries, Inc., ("Erwin"). UMWA brought this action under § 301 of the Labor-Management Relations Act ("LMRA"), 29 U.S.C. § 185, to compel Erwin to submit to arbitration.
