Forty-five Union Oil Company of California (Unocal) dealers brought this diversity action against Unocal alleging various breach of contract and tort claims. I bifurcated trial on liability and damages. Beginning April 21, 1987, the jury tried liability. I denied defendant's motions for a directed verdict and submitted five claims to the jury. The jury found for plaintiffs on the breach of an implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, fraud...
