Ralph Boyer brought this action against appellant Empiregas, Inc. of Chillicothe, (hereinafter Empiregas) and appellant Empire, Inc., for personal injuries resulting from a gas explosion which occurred when he attempted to light a gas furnace. On a jury verdict, Boyer was awarded $100,000 in actual damages against Empire, Inc. and Empiregas and $500,000 in punitive damages...
