Petitioner, Alonzo Lewis, was convicted in state court in Illinois on two counts of rape, two counts of deviate sexual assault, and one count of burglary. The Illinois Appellate Court reversed and remanded, but the Illinois Supreme Court reversed the Appellate Court and reinstated the convictions. People v. Lewis, 115 Ill.App.3d 389, 71 Ill.Dec. 198, 450 N.E.2d 886
