The plaintiff, James R. Boudreaux, brought this suit to recover damages he sustained when a car ran into the motorcycle he was riding. The defendants are Alcide LeBlanc, the driver of the car, and Viking Insurance Company, Mr. LeBlanc's liability insurer.
