On May 16, 1985, defendant Kelvin Gibson was indicted for aggravated rape (R.S. 14:42), aggravated crime against nature (R.S. 14:89.1), and attempted aggravated rape (R.S. 14:27 (42)).

A jury found Gibson guilty of aggravated rape and aggravated crime against nature. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on the aggravated rape offense and fifteen years on the crime against nature offense. A nolle prosequi was entered as to the attempted aggravated...
