The defendant Buford Jefferson, Jr., was convicted in a trial by jury of distribution of a controlled substance, pentazocine, commonly known as "Talwin". His appeal lists six assignments of error.

The events forming the basis of this prosecution took place on March 25, 1983. New Orleans Police Officers Lloyd Clark and Johnny Evans, dressed in plain clothes were bringing a prisoner back to the corner of Gallier & Law Streets, an area noted...
