CRANDALL, Judge.

Defendant, Michael Luleff, appeals from his conviction, after a trial by jury, of receiving stolen property. § 570.080 RSMo (1986). He was sentenced to four years' imprisonment. We reverse and remand.

The evidence adduced at trial showed that, on October 10, 1984, two deputy sheriffs of Warren County arrived at defendant's home to investigate a family disturbance. Defendant lived in the house alone, having been separated from his wife...
