LEVY, Justice.

Appellants Carl Hoppes and Billy Wayne Whitehead were separately indicted for the murder of Steven Maxwell and the attempted murder of Ricky Roach, both offenses occurring in the same transaction on November 14, 1983. The trial court granted appellants' motion to consolidate all charges, which were then incorporated in a single trial. A jury found each appellant guilty of murder and attempted murder.
