Defendant-appellant Lundy challenges his jury convictions of arson, 18 U.S.C.A. § 844(i) (West Supp.1986), and mail fraud, 18 U.S.C. § 1341 (1982). Lundy contends that the district court erred in permitting a government expert to testify regarding the cause of the fire because the expert's opinion was not based on specialized knowledge, was not helpful to the jury and was unfairly prejudicial.
