Leroy Shifflett, Jr. was found guilty of perjury, pursuant to Code § 18.2-434, and sentenced to one year in the penitentiary. The basis for the perjury conviction was his testimony on behalf of Raymond Hamilton at Hamilton's pretrial suppression hearing on April 29, 1985, Commonwealth v. Raymond Hamilton, (Hamilton hearing) and a statement that he made to Lieutenant H.B. Myers on May 2, 1985.
