Appellants Richard and Julia Reed, husband and wife, were each charged with three counts of wilfully attempting to evade federal income taxes in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 7201 in the years 1980, 1981, and 1982, and were jointly charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States for the period of January 1, 1980 through April 23, 1983, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371.
