Defendant was charged with home invasion and residential burglary (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, pars. 12-11, 19-3). The charges arose from an incident of September 26, 1985, wherein a black male forced his way into the home of a 77-year-old man and held the man at knife point while another man went through the rooms of the house.
